Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series UTV Series Returns for 3rd Year

Morgantown, W.Va. (January 5, 2010) - Racer Productions, producers of the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series, is pleased to announce the third-annual season of the UTV/side-by-side portion of the GNCC series.

"We're excited for another great year of UTV racing," said Jeff Russell, GNCC Trail Boss. "The UTV races are always action-packed with good competition."

Six rounds of the 13 stop GNCC series will include a UTV portion. The first race will kick off at the Maxxis General GNCC in Washington, GA on March 6, and the run to the championships will end at the Ironman GNCC in Crawfordsville, IN on October 23-24.

GNCC Racing Television Returns with New Time Slot

Morgantown, W.Va. (December 29, 2009) - For the tenth straight year, the highly popular Racer TV program will return with ATV and bike coverage for the 2010 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series. All 13 GNCC bike and ATV rounds, 26 races in total, will air on VERSUS in 30-minute episodes, totaling 52 hours of GNCC action. Each race will debut on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. EST and will re-air on Tuesdays at 5:00 p.m. EST. The first episode will feature The Parts Unlimited River Ranch ATV Premiere on April 25. The GNCC Series continues to be America's only off-road series offering bike and ATV racing coverage on cable television.

Jeff Canfield Named Technical Director For AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships and GNCC Racing

Morgantown, W.Va. (December 22, 2009) - Jeff Canfield has been named as Technical Director of the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships and the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series.

 

"I am excited to be working with the GNCC racing community and the Loretta Lynn program." Canfield said. "I look forward to taking my professional experience and working with AMA amateur riders and expanding my reach to off-road."

Canfield will oversee the implementation and enforcement of rules for competition and equipment for both series. Canfield has been a part of the racing industry for the past 20 years. In 2004, Canfield was named Assistant Series Manager for Supercross and Motocross, and was promoted to Series Manager in 2007,

Over 1100 Celebrate 2009 Can-Am GNCC Race Season at Annual Series Banquet

Morgantown, W.Va. (December 7, 2009) -- Over 1100 members of the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series racing community arrived at the annual series' banquet throughout the weekend, held at Lakeview Resort in Morgantown, W.Va. , to celebrate the season's accomplishments a final time in 2009. The banquets--held on Friday night for ATVs and Saturday night for motorcycles--recognize the top-ten riders in every GNCC class and also present a variety of specialty awards to riders as voted on by their fellow racers and GNCC staff.

While riders, friends, fans and family enjoyed a buffet meal, photos from the year flashed across two projector screens until the awards ceremony began. On the ATV side, Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Chris Borich was presented with the Rider of the Year Award for toppling Yamaha's Bill Ballance's nine-year win streak and taking his first GNCC Title. Ballance was named the rider with the most wins in GNCC history with 68 wins. Ballance currently leads Barry Hawk, who won championships on bikes and ATVs by one win on the all-time list.

Racer Productions Announces Proposed Amateur, Pro And UTV GNCC Rules and Classes

Morgantown, W.Va. (December 18, 2009) - Racer Productions, producers of the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series, has announced the proposed rules for the 2010 GNCC tour in the Amateur, Pro and UTV classes.

These proposed rules are tentative until December 28. This allows the GNCC community 10 days to view the rules and allow for a public comment period.

"As always, we take into account our racers' feedback when crafting new rules," said Jeff Russell, GNCC Trail Boss. "We learned a lot from our riders' meetings a few weeks ago, and we think the new rule book will work well for everyone."
